Joan, why are you wearing men’s clothing? This is a big issue at her inquisition, of course. Gender roles, clothing is so important…my adviser is very excited about an idea in a book she was reading…the idea is that bodies were so undifferentiated, theoretically (bodies being bags of fluid, hotter or colder making them male or female) and probably literally as well, that elaborate gender roles were established in order to make people feel that there were more differences between men and women than they could percieve. Yes? No? We haven’t decided.
